The Associated Press has named Peyton Manning, Most Valuable Player. Manning has now won the honor for the third time in his career.
Peyton Manning ties the only other player to receive the award three times, Brett Favre. Great company for the future Hall of Famer.
50 sports writers and broadcasters who cover the NFL from across the Nation are on the panel and it was a landslide vote for Manning (32). Other vote getters were QB Philip Rivers(2) from San Diego, Titan rookie running back Chris Johnson(1) and QB Kurt Warner (1) from the Arizona Cardinals. Also Chad Pennington (4) from the Dolphins and Falcons Michael Turner (4)
Brett Favre won the award in 1995 and in 1996 and shared it with Barry Sanders in 1997. Manning won in 2003 and shared the MVP with Steve McNair in 2004, 2008 belongs to Peyton.
Off to a slow start this year and with a record of 3-4 the Colts under the leadership of Manning went on a tear and now once again are in the playoffs. Tough start for a team that in past years started 13-0, 8-0, and 7-0. But they are back and ready to take on the NFL. Possible Manning vs Manning Super Bowl?
The Colts have won nine straight and will face the Chargers this weekend in San Diego. Should be a great game and one more time to see Manning work his magic.
