Press for Peace Patron-in-Chief Begum Tanvir Latif is representing women from Pakistan administered Kashmir in three-day intra-Kashmir Women’s Conference which is scheduled to begin on 27 September 2011. The said event has been organized by New Delhi- based Centre for Dialogue and Reconciliation (CDR) in collaboration with Women for Peace, Srinagar. The conferencewill bring 45 women participants from all regions of Jammu and Kashmir including Pakistan administered Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan. The conference will address women’s roles in peace-building, policy-making, socio-economic and legal issues in women’s empowerment. Ltd Nayyar Malik, and CEO MGPO (Mountain Glacier Protection Organization) Aisha Khan.
Within last four years, it will be the second time that the women from both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) will be discussing their role in civil and political affairs of the disputed state of Jammu & Kashmir. A similar event was held in Srinagar in 2007. The delegation from Pakistan Administered Kashmir on Monday left for India via Wagha to participate in the Srinagar conference. The event will take place in an atmosphere that will allow the participants to speak freely and frankly and express differences as well as areas of agreement.
