Philippine President Gloria Arroyo goes to Europe with her big delegation in tow. The visit of the President to Europe started first in Mother Spain where she met King Carlos I and Queen Sofia. It was a historic visit for Madam Gloria since she is only the second RP President, first was her father, to visit Mother Spain. The King of Spain welcomed Mrs. Arroyo and even defended the President from political noise in the Philippines.
The visit was for the signing of cooperation deals in agriculture, fisheries, education culture and other issues that matters to both countries’ good relationship. Education was given more importance and the Spanish leadership promised to help the Philippines reacquire the almost forgotten Spanish Language in its former colony.
So, the dialog of the King goes this way: “Tengo confianza en usted Seniora Gloria (I have confidence in Madam Gloria), and PGMA answered back: “Si Senor, el tiempo se asegura, hoy tendremos un dia hermoso” (The weather is improving; we shall have a fine day). Good weather because the President resolved another rebellion in her tumultuous administration and here she’s relishing or is it winding in Europe.
And after saying “hola, adios or is it hasta la vista Senor and viva Spania,” the President went straight to London. The Queen of England warmly welcomed PGMA and she was just lucky to step into the historic place of England, where the likes of Harry Potter, The Chronicles of Narnia, King Arthur and many more had brought the world to fantasy.
The ten day European trip of the President and her big entourage cost millions of pesos and the people are asking “a ojos cerrados!” “Por Dios Por Santo,” Que Lastima,” “Caramba.” “Nada se gana hablando sin hacer algo.”
