Philip Seymour Hoffman, Oscar-Winning Actor, Dead From Drug Overdose

The New York Post has reported Oscar-winning actor, Philip Seymour Hoffman, was found dead of an apparent drug overdose in a Greenwich Village home today, according to police; and he “still” had a hypodermic needle in his arm.

Hoffman’s personal assistant found his body in an apartment located at 35 Bethune St., around 11:30 a.m., and called 911, according to sources.

Police are at the scene and they’re investigating, according to sources.

Hoffman publicly admitted in 2006 he had almost succumbed to substance abuse when he was graduating from NYU’s drama school; but he got sober in rehab.

Hoffman told “60 Minutes” at a time, “It was all the drugs and alcohol; anything I could get my hands on…I liked it all.”

Hoffman checked himself into a rehab last year for ten days after he had a relapse in 2012.

TMZ said he started using prescription pills, and then he began snorting heroin for approximately a week before he realized he needed help.
