Pig-O-Lympics

If you really want a work out, forget the gym; instead, try to catch a
little 40 pound pig who has plenty of room to run.

I forgot how fast those little suckers could move!

I had two little piggies get out the other day.  They went to my
neighbor’s house and took up residence under her deck.  I had looked all over for these two little shits, and I was really worried, because we have a lot of coyotes and roaming dogs; but she called me, told me where they were, and off I went.

Most of my animals are "grain trained"; I can lead them anywhere with a bucket of grain.  So I loaded up a bucket of grain with some milk in it and headed over to her house.  The one little piggy came right to me; I just plucked him up and loaded him in the trailer.  Piggy #2 wasn’t so fooled (fortunately, I brought reinforcements).  She ran up to me like she was going to go to the bucket, got about three feet from me, and then took up this stance like a dog who is ready to play.  She planted her front feet, looked at me like, are you ready??? (I swear she smiled), and before I could say, don’t you dare – off she went.

The place where she was had plenty of little nooks and crannies for her to run through, hide in, go under, etc.; she found every one of them.  Like I said, fortunately, I had someone with me; unfortunately, he doesn’t work with farm animals, so he did what comes naturally and tried to chase her.

I told him not to chase her, but he did.

This kid is 6′ 4" and a former high school track star, but he could not catch her.  I was watching him chase her – this big guy running full bore after this little pig, and I was on the ground ROLLING – I was laughing so hard, I thought I was going to pee my pants.  She was high assing it and giving him this look like…YEEAAAHHHH RRIIIIIIGGHHTT!!!!!!!!!!!!

He yells at me that I’m no help; so I said, I told you not to chase
her.

So she goes back under the deck.  Now, this deck has only about a foot of clearance.  He volunteers to go under it; I told him not to chase her out until I was ready; I didn’t even have a chance to get ready. All of a sudden I hear, "There’s a dead **** cat under here!" and she was out and gone.

Meanwhile, the four year old is sitting in the truck, laughing at us
and enjoying the show.

So after a few more rounds around the house, through the ditch, under the trees and around the field, she heads back under the deck.  This time, I went under (and yes, there was a dead cat.)  I told him to wait until I told him to be ready, and I blocked off her escape route before I went in.

I went in, skinnied up and pushed her out.  It took a couple of tries,
but she finally ran right to him and he caught her.  I think she was
just tired; when I put her in the trailer, she immediately laid down
to take a nap.

Got her home and put her back in her pen (sans escape route).  She knew she was home; she walked right out of the trailer and into her pen – where there was a big pile of food waiting for her.
