Jammu, June 4, (Scoop News)_The political affairs committee (PAC) of Panun Kashmir (PK) held its meeting on Thursday and took stock of the deteriorating political situation in Kashmir. Prof. M.L.Raina, Chairman, Political Affairs Committee presided over the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, president, Panun Kashmir said that the recent statement of Pakistani General that ‘…Kashmir is a part of the unfinished agenda of partition….’ is reflective of the frustration and total lack of understanding of the geo-political dynamics on the part of Pak establishment.
He said in so far as the political aspect of the Kashmir issue is concerned, it is a settled issue. The only issue that needs to be settled is the reclamation of the Pakistan occupied Kashmir and the areas illegally ceded to China by Pakistan. The recent spurt in the terrorist activities and the attempts aimed at infiltrating armed terrorists into Kashmir is as a result of the confusing signals that the government has been giving ever since it came into power in Jammu and Kashmir, Chrangoo added.
“The separatists in Kashmir seem to be emboldened and encouraged to hold public rallies where they display Pakistan flags and raise anti-India slogans”, PK president said and added “this is totally unacceptable to the nationalist forces in Jammu and Kashmir and is completely against the national mood on the subject”.
Chrangoo said the relative peace in Kashmir was won as a result of blood, sweat and sacrifices of our valiant security forces and it cannot be allowed to be frittered away to satiate the whims and fancies of a few wanting to experiment with national security.
Prof. M.L.Raina, Chairman, PAC in his presidential address said in the meeting that the gains of the recent elections in Kashmir seems to have been lost or is in the process of losing if no counter measures are taken immediately on a war footing.
“The separatists have been given a free run to regroup and organise rallies all across the valley and this is eroding the trust that the people of the state had reposed in the new dispensation”, he observed.
Virender Raina, national spokesman said that in the ‘battle of ideas’ the government seems to have given a very long rope to the anti-Indian lobby in Kashmir. The salience of Pakistan is increasing in the affairs of Kashmir, and after a long time Pakistan seems to be rejuvenated to poke its nose in the internal affairs of India.
In the mishandling of the internal dynamics of Kashmir, the hostile neighbour senses an opportunity and would not allow peace to take roots, he said.
“It is the Kashmiri Pandits who are the prime stakeholders in Kashmir and would under no circumstances allow farcical experimentation in Kashmir in the name of ‘battle of ideas’”, Raina added.
Panun Kashmir over the years has created a global consciousness amongst its diaspora and particularly the younger generation about Homeland in Kashmir and would continue to do its duty, the spokesperson said.
Those who attended the meeting included JL Koul, Upinder Koul, Lamal Bagati, Vijay Qazi and Ramesh Koul.
The quarterly newsletter was also released on the occasion.
