Places to Visit in New York for the Film Enthusiast

New York has always been a historically cinematic town. It has been a place for the arts and theatre for almost all of its history. Now, the city boasts one of the biggest and best arts communities in the nation. If you are a film buff, then I highly recommend making the trip and exploring all this wonderful city has to offer. Here are just a few of the many attractions in New York that you can go out and see for yourself. For even more attractions, check out http://kudago.com/new-york/ and you will find a huge list of activities to do in the big apple!

1. The New York Film Festival

Here is the big one. Any and every film buff will want to flock to this event and check it out. Not only do you get sneak peeks at new blockbusters, but you also get a look at some new up and coming films, and independent movies. You will also get a chance to meet your favorite directors and film stars! I have had the pleasure to attend this festival, and it is a really great time. The food and entertainment is fantastic. There are even a few stands that recreate food from your favorite movies! If you love movies, then you will love this festival. The festival is scheduled to happen every year from September 26th to October 12thand it is currently on its 52nd anniversary!

2. Nitehawk Cinema

Theatres always seem to be lacking in quality food, well that certainly is not the case at the Nitehawk Cinema. This theatre is designed with the customer in mind. They serve fresh food, such as burgers, fish, and many other dishes that you would normally find at a nice restaurant. That’s a nice change of pace from the buckets of popcorn and sub-par hot dogs at other theatres. They even go the extra step and serve dishes especially for certain movies. Then after your movie, you can head over to one of two bars located inside the theatre!

3. AMC LOEWS LINCOLN SQUARE 13

If you want the best IMAX experience then you need to visit this theatre. The theatre sits a staggering 600 people. That is one of the largest in the entire country! Seeing a movie at this theatre is like seeing a movie for your first time. Every image seems to pop out at the audience, and the image is crisp and clear regardless of where you are seated. It’s best to arrive early or purchase tickets in advance, as tickets tend to be sold out quickly. I got the chance to visit this theatre just two years ago to see Star Trek: Into Darkness and it was one of the best movie experiences I have had to date!

4. Carnegie Hall

You can’t make a list of New York attractions without the famous Carnegie Hall. They may not play movies, but they host tons of events related to film. They have orchestras that often perform famous tracks from classic and current movies. Famous composers in film come here and perform all the time. It is an excellent place to visit to gain some appreciation on the old arts and the new.
