At least 10 people on board a cargo aeroplane are feared dead after it crashed near Uganda’s main airport, Entebbe, police have said.
Spokeswoman Judith Nabakooba said the aircraft came down in Lake Victoria near Bugunga Island.
It is not known what caused the crash and a team of investigators has been sent to the site.
An army spokesman said eyewitnesses reported seeing the plane catch fire before it crashed in the lake.
It was carrying water purifiers, pipes and other equipment, the spokesman said, quoted by the Associated Press news agency.
Local media said the cargo was bound for Ugandan peacekeepers in Somalia.
AFP news agency quoted a Burundian army spokesman as saying three Burundian soldiers were among the victims.
