Srinagar, October 23, (Scoop News)- Prime Minister, Narender Modi this afternoon arrived here on a day long visit to valley to assess the damages caused by recent floods and review the pace of relief and rehabilitation process.
At the Airport, the Prime Minister was received by Governor, N. N. Vohra, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Members of his council of Ministers besides senior officers of Civil, Military and Police.
Soon after his arrival, the Prime Minister held a meeting with the officers of State Government where he reviewed the relief and rehabilitation process undertaken by the State Government.
The Prime Minister had one to one meeting with the Chief Minister in which Omar Abdullah while thanking the Prime Minister for visiting Valley and Ladakh on Diwali, briefed the Prime Minister about the gigantic challenge of reconstructing Jammu and Kashmir and rehabilitating the flood affected families. He also emphasized the need of early sanctioning of the comprehensive special rehabilitation programme recommended by the State Government to the Centre.
The Prime Minister also had a separate meeting with the top officers of the State in which Governor, N. N. Vohra and Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah also participated..
The officers of the state Government presented detailed account of work done by the State Government on relief and rehabilitation front. They also identified the needs of the State for recovery, rehabilitation ad reconstruction of the public infrastructure.
