LAHORE: Restoration of November 2 judiciary and the Constitution were highlighted as main points of the election manifesto of Pakistan Muslim League (N) made public here on Friday.
Announcing the party Manifesto, PML (N) Chief, Nawaz Sharif, said “Restoration of judiciary to pre-November 3 position and the 1973 Constitution take top priority in party’s manifesto.”
He also criticized the government of President Pervez Musharraf, saying the claims being made now regarding the country’s progress and development was in fact became possible due to the foundation laid during his (Nawaz’s) rule.
PML (N) Chief said at the time of his government’s dismissal it was claimed that Pakistan has broken the begging bowl but the country has been chained with billions of rupees debts.
“There has been an increase in the internal debt by Rs1200 billion and external debt Rs 420 billion,” he maintained, saying this is mentioned in the State Bank’s report.
He said during the last eight years the unemployment has increased, law and order situation aggravated; the situation of Balochistan and NWFP is reflective of the same.
Nawaz Sharif said his party on coming into power will struggle for eradication of unemployment in the country besides dispensing justice to the common man.
“At present the people are finding it difficult to even afford basic items of food including pulses and flour…A poor person cannot provide two times meal to his children,” he lamented.
He said although President Musharraf remained in power for eight long years, he once again proclaimed emergency in the country, suspended the Constitution and sacked the judiciary. “President Musharraf himself admitted the failure of his government,” he added.
PML (N) Chief said forming of national reconciliation besides a tolerant and patient society is also part of the PML (N) manifesto.
