PoK Refugees suffers for last 65 years in JK:Chuni

Jammu, February 25 (Scoop News) –   Rajiv Chuni Chairman S. O. S. International – An Organization for PoK Refugees was very much critical over the attitude of the present coalition Government of the State of J&K towards the PoK Refugees who have remained in sufferings for the last 65 years.

In a Statement here today,Chuni said that this government headed by  Omar Abdullah has proved to be very insensitive and acting contrary to what it claims of being sensitive to every issue and to every corner of the State. Prior to and immediately after taking over the reigns of the State as its coalition Chief Minister he had rather promised to settle the burning issues of the PoK Refugees but such utterances remained utterances only and faded away by the passage of time of his reign and now no word is there of sympathy for this destitute community.

He said, how surprising that the PoK Refugees, who are part and parcel of the State are treated with different yard sticks vis-à-vis valley migrants. Isn’t it an administrative and political atrocity? How disgusting such a situation is that the ministers holding chairs of administration do not feel and care a hoot for this badly suffering community who have been lingering in camps, have not security of food, clothing, shelter, health, education, jobs and other benefits which they are otherwise entitled to, being permanent residents of the State.

Chuni said how much stone-heartedness exists within the Ministers, MLAs and MLCs of the J&K State barring few that none amongst them stands at the back of this community of PoK Refugees and projects the issue before the Assembly, Council or the State Government. Evident they have gone luxurious only.

SOS Chairman said for all these years of Independence this issue has been tossed between the State and the Central Governments, each blaming the other but the fact remains that the Central government seems to be committed to come to the help of this community provided a concrete and genuine proposal mooted through the State Government to them which has never been so far done.

He said the community is observing change of various aspects, say in political spheres, in administrative spheres and social spheres also and this is high time for State government to think over these problems and grant justice to this most neglected community by way of acceding to their genuine demands put forth from time to time.
