Government ordered transfer of Deputy Inspectors General of
Police (DIG, Kamal Kumar Saini soon after reports of tempering in his date of
birth were circulated in a section of press. As per government order Danish
Rana, DIG IRP Jammu will replace DIG Traffic Jammu. And Saini shall report to
PHQ for further posting. Date of Birth fudge case by IPS officers in Jammu and
Kashmir, state government was detected showing that an officer of rank of DIG
had submitted fake birth certificate to extend his service period.
"We have detected a case of fudging of DoB by a senior
IPS officer. DIG Traffic (Jammu) Kamal Saini, a Kashmir Police Service officer
who was later inducted into IPS in 1994, had changed his DoB from 1954 to
1955," a senior state home department officer said. Government has
approved reversal of his DoB in records and appropriate action will be taken
against him, he said.
Earlier on February 18, state government forcefully retired
IG Security Farooq Ahmed after a panel, probing cases of senior police officers
involved in fudging of birth certificates, found that he had tampered his DoB
to extend his services. Farooq,
a Kashmir Police Service (KPS) officer who was promoted to IPS cadre, had
submitted a new DoB certificate to department in which his date of birth was
November 1951. But probe panel found that in original certificate, his date of
birth was February 1949.
As per the guidelines, Farooq should have retired in
February 2009 but he was continuing in office prior to his forced retirement.
It is not with police department that few officials have mentioned tempered
figures but in every department of government things are following alike.
It is important to mention that chief minister (during a
press conference) openly asked people in general and media in particular to
provide proof of any irregulatory to deal with offenders as per rule of law.
Now it remains worth to watch, how the tempers are dealt.
