A heroic police officer who stopped the female suicide bomber from entering the train station in Volograd given award and honor. He actually stopped the woman, who appeared pregnant at the time but acted nervous, and prevented her from entering the main hall of the crowded railway station. He was seen in security camera footage trying to stop the bomber from setting off her explosive device.
“Dmitry Makovkin approached her and at that movement she suddenly started to rush inside. Dmitry crossed her path and it seems he covered her with his body. That’s when she blew herself up,” Russia Today reported , citing the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper.

Unfortunately he died in the massive explosion.
His coffin was marched through the city on Thursday. According to a BBC news report he was “buried with full military honors” (source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-25580380).
As his coffin passed people openly wept in the street.
Dmitry Makovkin,age 29 was posthumously decorated with the “Order of Courage” (Russian : Орден Мужества)- the highest award possible for a police officer.
The Order of Courage is awarded to citizens of the Russian Federation who showed unprecedented dedication, courage and bravery in protecting public order, fighting crime, in rescuing people during natural disasters, fires, accidents and other emergencies, as well as for bold and decisive actions committed during the performance of military or civil duties under conditions involving a risk to life.
High ranking officials with the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs presented the award along with personal condolences to the relatives of the deceased policeman. He is credited with saving the lives of hundreds during the attack.
Russian police have arrested over 700 people in the ongoing investigation into the bombings.
