Police to interact with students

Orissa, being a small state in India, has seen highest number of violent incidents in the campuses of the colleges and varsities by the students. The police commissioner of this state has unfolded a unique program, in which his men in uniform will conduct regular interface in various educational institutions across the state. This decision has come up in the wake of growing over-aggressive attitudes among students, mostly college goers.

 In the proposed move, the police will adopt measures to take students in to confidence by interaction with them about their problems. Besides this, the men in uniform will take steps to boost the intellectual growth of the students. In the past, many students were found taking part in sleaze business, running amok in the campuses of colleges and universities and demanding money through extortion. To add to this,addiction to drugs, alcohols and unsafe sex is increasing day-by-day. 

The top brass in the police force have realized that arresting a student during his college days can have damaging repercussion on his future career.  As per the statement by Police commissioner, his force will convince the students that police are approachable and friendly. As highest number of violent incidents take place during elections in the colleges and universities, this move is aimed to impart education to students on peaceful conduct of elections. 

This move by the top man in the police has been praised by people from all segments of the society. Senior citizens, academicians, bureaucrats and students have welcomed this new role of police in students’ counseling.
