Political empowerment of underprivileged active agenda of NC: Rana

Jammu, August 07 (Scoop News)- Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today said that National Conference has an active agenda for political empowerment of weaker sections and called for larger participation of people belonging to these segments in governance and decision making.

“Social justice and economic emancipation of the underprivileged classes is corner stone of the cherished agenda of National Conference”, Mr Rana said at a function held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here this afternoon in connection with the joining ofMr Narendra Dutt, General Secretary All J&K Megh Sudhar Sabha and his supporters into the party.

Welcoming Narinder Dutt and his supporters in the party fold, Mr Rana attributed the spurt in joining of prominent social activists, belonging to vast mass of society, into National Conference as a logical and positive development, saying that relentless public service and contribution towards progress and development of the state has been a motivating factor for bringing cross section of people within the party fold. “Strengthening of National Conference is in the overall interests of the state besides marginalizing communal and divisive elements”, he maintained.

He said his party’s commitment to welfare and economic emancipation of the weaker sections has further been reinforced after the revolutionary decisions taken in recent years, as also in the past, for opening of vistas of opportunities in different spheres of activity across the State. He said Omar Abdullah led coalition government has been working towards faster development and progress of all the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh besides their sub-regions. “Progress of Jammu and Kashmir will be meaningless unless every segment of society gets equal share in development”, he said.
The Provincial President hoped that Mr Narinder and his supporters in the larger National Conference family and hoped that their presence in the ranks will help the party to achieve mega success in the upcoming elections. He described National Conference as a movement that has been carrying along all segments of society who believe in democratic values and oneness of the State, irrespective of caste, creed and colour.

Earlier Narinder Dutt, General Secretary, All Jammu and Kashmir Megh Sudhar Sabha along with large number of his supporters on Wednesday joined National Conference.
Established in 1963, the Sabha has been spearheading the cause of Megh Biradari and working for their empowerment and upliftment. Senior Sabha leaders including Chairman B. D Bhagat, President, M R Bhagat, Organising Secretary, Sham Lal Bhagat and prominent office bearers Ashok Kumar and Tarseem Lal were present at the joining ceremony. The Sabha leaders described it a historic occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Narinder Dutt said that his organization has strong belief in the policies and programmes of National Conference which has been the single most motivating factor for its leaders to join its ranks. “We have been keenly observing the sincerity of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah towards the welfare and well being of the weaker sections and are overwhelmed by the initiatives taken in this regard in the recent past”, he said.
Mr Narinder pledged his support in the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah , saying they will work like soldiers to strengthen the party at the grass roots level and disseminate the policies and programmes of National Conference. He said his organization will tirelessly work for strengthening the unity of the State by isolating disruptive and communal elements.
