The Indian constitution guarantees us many fundemental rights, of which the right to live, right to reside anywhere else in India, right to profess any religion of our choice, right to do any business or profession of our choice etc which are paramount as far as any Indian irrespective of his economic status, religion, caste etc.
But politicians in India though aware of all those rights enshrined in our constitution and actually clamouring for them, sometimes behave in a very silly and parochial manner not befitting to their political stature and principles and sometimes these highly volatile people even transgress there limits as well the above mentioned principles and fundemental rights enshrined in our constitution.
What is happening in Mumbai for the past few days is very disgusting. The trouble actually brewed when Amitabh Bachchan recently laid a foundation in Uttarpradesh to build a women’s college in the name of his daughter-in-law Iswarya Rai.It is quite natural that Amitabh Bachchan hailing from UP thought of building a women’s college there. After all we invite non-resident Indians living in US and UK to invest in India and start their own business here.We also take pride that our Indian-born British People like Swaraj Paul and Mittal were the leading business tycoons in the UK.We didn’t hesitate to accept their investment in India. But it is a pity that unscrupulous politicians hailing from Shiv Sena could not tolerate Amitabh Bachchan building a women’s college in the UP.Their contention is that Amitabh is earning in crores in Mumbai, but he chose to build a women’s college in the UP.It is silly.
Above all the illwill they had created among the people is even more appalling. The north Indian business people and drivers are targetted and attacked. It is simply a classic example of a crooked and parochial mindedness.
After all this is an age of globalism and the world is simply shrinking like anything. How can we allow such a narrowmindedness to creep in and mar the amity and friendship that has developped over the years among Indians regardless of their profession, nativity etc.
We should abhor and never allow such silly narrowmindedness in any form in any quarter of India.
