Rana was addressing a gathering at Nagrota today where a large number of workers of BJP joined National Conference.
Asking BJP to refrain from misleading the people by raking up divisive issues, Rana said BJP should play a role of constructive opposition and should not play vote bank politics by raising divisive slogans. “The unity of people of Jammu & Kashmir is un-compromiseable and parties like BJP will not be allowed to disturb the communal amity and traditional brotherhood in the state”.
“The prosperity and progress of the state lies in the traditional harmony between all sections of the society that Jammu & Kashmir symbolizes since ages”, he said and added that the state’s coalition government under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is determined to further strengthen this characteristic of the state and cement the bonds of love between various sections of the society.
Rana said the state government has initiated massive and comprehensive development plan to reach out to every area in the state for equitable development and wellbeing of the people of the state.
Addressing the gathering Provincial President J&K National Conference Rattan Lal Gupta said that strengthening of democratic institutions at Panchayat level is imperative to involve public representatives at grass root in plan formation and implementation of schemes and in this direction the National Conference – Congress coalition government in the state led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is committed for strengthening the Panchayati Raj.
“This would not only help in decentralization of powers but ensure area specific development across the state”, Gupta said and added that Panchayati Raj in the state would give new dimensions to the development of villages in all sectors.
He said from the day first the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took over in the state he concentrated on addressing the unemployment crises seriously and Sher-e-Kashmir Employment & Welfare Policy for Youth (SKEWPY) is the outcome of his (Chief Minister’s) keenness to address the unemployment and expand job opportunities for the youth. He said SKEWPY is the new initiative the first of its kind in the country to address unemployment crisis. He urged the youth to come forward and take full benefit of the scheme.
Rameshwar Dutt Block President National Conference Block Dansal and Som Nath Khajuria National Conference leader also addressed the gathering.
Those who joined the party (National Conference) after resigning from BJP on the occasion included Capt. Parkash Chand Sharma, Isher Das Sharma, Tara Chand Sharma, Rattan Baru, Raj Kumar Sharma, Prem Khajuria, Ajay Sharma, Chairman Bishan Dass Sharma and others.
