On October 23, 2014 Vladimir Putin met with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss the countries close economic ties? Note: The UAE is a major military ally of the United States?
This struck me as very odd since according to one secret Russian Foreign intelligence report “America is the single largest military threat to the Russian Federation and the biggest threat to world peace.”
The secret report cites the successions of US led wars around the world over the past decade and “the Plan” to overthrow numerous governments (see Youtube video: US Army General Wesley Clark Reveals US Plan To Invade Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, And Iraq http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LTdx1nPu3k ).
Why Putin would then maintain close relationships and cozy up with the UAE’s defense chief -a major US military ally is very questionable in my opinion. But such is politics in the world today, I suppose, especially in Russia which says one things and does another. Never maintaining a consistent policy where its own interests are concerned:
“PRESIDENT OF RUSSIA VLADIMIR PUTIN: Your Highness, friends, good afternoon. It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Russia.
I am happy to note that relations between Russia and the United Arab Emirates are developing successfully. We have good political relations and our economic cooperation is growing: in the past four years, trade between our countries has grown manifold.
Our investment cooperation is also expanding. We have great trust in your investment funds and corresponding institutions in the Russian Federation have established ties with them.
Your Highness, I am also very glad to meet with you to exchange views on the situation in the region, which remains complicated both in terms of Israeli-Palestinian relations, and in other areas. We are concerned about the developments in Iraq and Libya. In other words, we have many matters to talk about. Your opinion on this situation is important for us.
We are very happy to see you, Your Highness, and to welcome you to Russia.
CROWN PRINCE OF ABU DHABI MOHAMMED BIN ZAYED AL NAHYAN (retranslated): Thank you very much, Mr President. I am happy to meet with you here in this wonderful city.
Thank you for finding the time for me in your very busy schedule.
I can say that Russia plays a very serious role in Middle Eastern affairs. However, there is no doubt that we have a privileged relationship. We have great goals to achieve in our cooperation, and if we succeed, it will develop even more actively.
Thank you very much, Mr President.”

Note: According to the U.S. Department of State annual report on human rights practices, the UAE is violating a number of fundamental practices. Specifically, the UAE does not have democratically-elected institutions and citizens do not have the right to change their government or to form political parties. In certain instances, the government of the UAE has abused people in custody and has denied their citizens the right to a speedy trial and access to counsel during official investigations.

Flogging and stoning are both legal forms of judicial punishment in the UAE due to Sharia courts. The government restricts freedom of speech and freedom of the press, and the local media practices self-censorship by avoiding directly criticizing the government or royal families. Freedom of association and freedom of religion are also curtailed.
Despite being elected to the UN Council, the UAE has not signed most international human-rights and labor-rights treaties, including the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, the Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families, and the Convention against Torture. Journalists from overseas frequently record and document human rights abuses that occur within the UAE.
Apostasy is a crime punishable by death in the UAE. UAE incorporates hudud crimes of Sharia into its Penal Code – apostasy being one of them.
Article 1 and Article 66 of UAE’s Penal Code requires hudud crimes to be punished with the death penalty, therefore apostasy is punishable by death in the UAE.

In addition to its abysmal human rights record the UAE is a key ally of the United States. In the words of Gen. Martin Demsey, Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff:
“I have to say the United Arab Emirates is among our most credible and capable allies, especially in the Gulf region.”

According to one expert the UAE is a major source of funding for ISIS terrorists: “The most important source of ISIS financing to date has been support coming out of the Gulf states, primarily Saudi Arabia but also Qatar, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates,” Meyer told Deutsche Welle.

I should also say the US has also funded an trained ISIS as well.
