According to a recent Media and Public Opinion research poll, most Americans believe that global warming is man made. Over 50% of Americans believe that global warming is man made made and the issue concerns them while a further 1 in 10 believe that global warming is man made but of no concern. This dwarfs the amount of Americans who believe that global warming is occurring naturally, with less than 20% believing that.
Only 4 in 10 men believe that global warming is man made and an issue of concern, while 6 in 10 women believe the same. Nearly a quarter of men believe that global warming is occurring naturally while only 1 in 10 women believe that.
Americans between the age of 18-40 are most likely to believe that global warming is man made and of concern while those age 50 and above are most likely to believe that global warming is occurring naturally.
Nearly all Asian Americans believe that global warming is man made and an issue of concern while less than half of Caucasians believe the same. Over half of African-Americans and Hispanics believe that global warming is man made and an issue of concern. Nearly 1/5 of Caucasians and Hispanics believe that global warming is occurring naturally. Caucasians are also the ethnicity most likely to believe that the evidence behind global warming is inconclusive, with 1 in 5 believing this.
