In the recent few days, things have been looking bright for Democratic Presidential nominee Senator Barack Obama of Illinois. However, it does not look to be the case for GOP Presidential nominee Senator John McCain of Arizona. Recent factors would be the financial crisis and the first United States Presidential debate.
Recently, it was revealed that the dynamic of the US Presidential race was not altered by how the debate went between Obama and McCain. Neither of them dealt the other the needed knockout punch. Days before the US Presidential debate, McCain opted to postpone it to fly to Washington DC to come up with a solution to the financial crisis.
In a current developing story, the US Senate is voting on the $700 billion bailout of Wall Street. So far, talks on the deal broke down last week at the White House in which McCain and Obama were in attendance. Obama said that neither he nor McCain should be active at the negotiations of the bill at the US House. During the House vote, Obama was not active.
The bill failed to pass and McCain blamed Obama and his allies. However, it was a majority of House Republicans that voted against the bill. Obama said that he and/or McCain playing an active role would only inject presidential politics. He adds that doing so would cause problems.
According to GOP strategist Ed Rollins, Obama benefited from not being active. Now, a poll launched by CNN, Time Magazine, and the Opinion Research Corporation gave results favorable to Obama. So far, it shows that Obama is gaining ground over McCain in the battleground states.
About a week ago, it was revealed that Obama was gaining ground over McCain in crucial battleground states such as Colorado and Michigan. Now, a new poll result shows that Obama is gaining ground over McCain in a few other crucial battleground states.
In Florida, Obama leads over McCain by 51-47.
The last poll taken in regards to Florida showed Obama and McCain to be tied. Now, the tide has shifted into Obama’s favor.
In Minnesota, Obama leads over McCain by 54-43. In a sheer note of irony, it was early September in which the Republican National Convention had taken place in that state. It is unknown what impact the Ron Paul rally had. For those that didn’t know, Ron Paul’s supporters held a counter-rally in Minnesota during the time of the RNC.
In Missouri, Obama has a one point lead over McCain making it 49-48. Tomorrow, the VP debate between Obama running mate Senator Joe Biden of Delaware and McCain running mate Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska is due to take place in St. Louis, Missouri. Perhaps the results of the VP debate might change the results in Missouri.
Maybe Palin might be able to throw a knock out punch on Biden. It’s a big MAYBE. But, it is still a possibility.
Hopefully, the VP debate will be more exciting than the first US Presidential debate.
Let’s all hope, people!
In Nevada, Obama leads McCain by 51-47.
In Virginia, Obama leads McCain by 53-44.
Perhaps the Senate debate and vote of the $700 billion bailout of Wall Street may influence the results for the next poll. While the poll results are in Obama’s favor, it’s still a poll.
Election night is not that far away. But, things can and will change in the coming days. All we can do is take it one day at a time.
Right now, the favor goes to Obama. But, that can change to where the favor shifts to McCain.
One could say that the VP debate could change the tide.
