Jammu, February 02 (Scoop News) – A group of 23 students from the remote areas of border district of Poonch, on way to their visit to various places of historical and cultural importance in the north-eastern parts of the country, called on the Governor, N. N. Vohra, at Raj Bhavan here today.
The students are accompanied by two of their teachers and the Army officers who will be with them on the tour.
During the two week-long tour, organized by the Army’s 15JAT Regiment under Operation Sadbhavana, these students will visit Gangtok, Siliguri,
Interacting with the children, the Governor said that such visits provide opportunity to visit various places of historical and cultural importance and broadens their mental horizons. For most of the students, it is their first visit to any place outside

The Governor presented gifts to the students and wished them a bright future. He asked Maj. G. Krishnan and other accompanying Army personnel to provide diaries to the children so that they write their daily experience in it.
He asked for organizing an Essay Writing Competition, based on their experience of the visit, and agreed to suitably reward the three students, whose essays are found to be the best.
The Principal Secretary to the Governor, R. K. Goyal, was present on the occasion.
