Porteño Three-Peat

In a game that will go down as a classic, Buenos Aires beat rival Tucumán 10-9 in the final of the 64th Argentine Union tournament.   Flyhalf Diego Mas opened the scoring in the first half for Tucumán with a penalty while fullback Federico Serra equalized for the Porteños.  Other than those two instances, there was little that stood out in the first 40 minutes.

The second half was a little more animated, but Buenos Aires was unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities.  Mas cashed in on two penalties and the Naranjados were on their way to breaking the Buenos Aires dominance.  Yet the two-time champs continued to be persistent and began to assert their position on the pitch at the Tucumán Lawn Tennis Club.

The Buenos Aires pack was able to take over the game and it would be Los Matreros hooker Agustin Costa Repetto scored the equalizing try and Serra would put Buenos Aires on top for good and assured them of their third consecutive union title.
