Power infrastructure up-gradation apace in erstwhile Jammu

 

Jammu, January 02 (Scoop News) –The Minister of State for Power, CA&PD and Transport,  Shabir Ahmed Khan has said that up-gradation of power infrastructure in erstwhile District Jammu was apace at a cost of Rs 35.05 crore under RGGVY.

He said the Central Government has sanctioned Rs 31.05 crore for up-gradation of power infrastructure in Jammu and Samba Districts under this flagship Programme, out of which Rs 21.97 crore have been utilized .  He said that the remaining works under the project would be completed by the end of this fiscal.

This was revealed by the Minister during a meeting with Vice Chairperson, Jammu and Kashmir State Advisory Board for Welfare and Development of Scheduled Castes (JKSABWDSC), Mrs Sawran Lata, here today convened  to review the power scenario in Samba and Purmandal blocks.

Prominent citizens and Sarpanches of Samba and Purmandal Blocks also attended the meeting.

The Vice Chairperson raised several issues related to up-gradation and improvement of power infrastructure in these blocks, especially in remote and border villages of the area.

While hailing the efforts of the government for improving overall power scenario in Samba District, she demanded installation of more electric polls , replacement of worn out wires , creation of sub stations and concession in power tariff to BPL families of these blocks.

The Minister issued instructions to the concerned authorities for taking immediate action on the genuine demands of the two blocks. He directed concerned to provide 25 new electric polls in  various villages. He also instructed for formulation of project reports for creation of more sub-stations in these blocks. He said that concession in power tariff for BPL families would be also considered.  

The Minister revealed that the PDD authorities have been instructed to formulate   Detailed Project Report  on the damages caused to power infrastructure across the State for approval of funds from the government, so that repair work was started at the earliest.

The Minister said that the up-gradation of power infrastructure in Samba and other towns of the district was being also carried out under R-APDRP. He said that power infrastructure, in the towns and villages of the State having more than 4000 population, was being upgraded in a phased manner under this flagship programme.
