PPHI play vital role in uplifting of Health units.
CHITRAL: Presidents Primary Healthcare Initiatives (PPHI) play vital role in promoting of health units in Chitral. PPHI incepted in June, 2007 as a result mostly health units working in Chitral were handed over to them for further promoting and providing basic facilities to patients through these centre. Some 21 Basic Health Units (BHU) running here at Chitral most of them were without any Medical Officer (doctor). Hence after hand over to PPHI they arranged for doctors in these BHU. They arranged to detail a doctor even for 2 or 3 BHU. Now they arranged doctors for BHU Kaisu, Drasun, Kosht, Nisho, Terich, Khot, Rech. Hence some 10 BHU are still running without doctor. They are situated in Bumborate (Kalash Valley) Tar at Sheshikoh valley, Mordir, Reshun, Brep, Laspur, Gobore, Nagar, Snoghur and Shongush.
Some 21 BHU are existing at Chitral sanction post of Medical Officer are only in 17 BHU but there is no sanction post (strength) of Medical Officer at 4 BHUs. Local doctors are not willing to be posted at Chitral especially at Upper Chitral an officer of PPHI disclosed during an exclusive interview with APP. He said that conditions of some BHU were very bad and running in very dilapidated condition. “Doctors and paramedics staff has prepared chicken houses inside of the hospitals.” he added.
Some 3.39 million have been spent on maintenance and repair, sign boards, furnishing, equipments, bedding clothing, and installation of V. phone in different Basic Health Units by PPHI. Gradually these BHU are not promoting and all health facilities are available there except of few one. Hence a doctor is detail to cover 2 or 3 BHU due to shortage of staff and they giving some 12000 rupees per BHU.
