A meeting was held under the chairmanship of P.N.Raina at Paloura, Jammu for re-constitution of Saint Prakash Ram Trust of Kurigam, Qazigund, here today.
All new as well as old members were present in the meeting. They unanimously reconstituted the trust and elected Rattan Lal Tickoo, Poshkar Nath Raina, Roshan Lal Dhar as Chairman, Trustees and Secretary while Vijay Raina was and Dileep Dhar were nominated as Gen Secretary and cashier.
On the occasion Avtar Krishen Dhar, Sanjay Dhar, Inder Krishen Tickoo, S.L.Tickoo, Yougesh Dhar, Bansi Lal Dhar and Bal Krishen Tickoo were nominated as its members.
While addressing the members in meeting Chairman highlighted the work of Saint Prakash Ram towards the Kashmiri culture and literature.
President also highlighted the life of Saint Prakash Ram who was born in 1819 at Kurigam, a small village in Qazigund and he left for his eternal journey at his native place in 1877.He was an outstanding devotional poet of Kashmir, who outshines as a translator of ‘Ramayana’ in Kashmiri verse. In it, he has enacted the entire life history of Lord Ram in poetry.
He further said that by putting light on his life that Saint Prakash Ram was a devotee of Shri Rama and due to this fondness he penned the Ramayana in two books in Kashmiri language and named it Rama Avtaar Charyit and Lav Kush Charyit.
This Ramayana became the first epic poetry ever written in Kashmiri and the most important contribution to the Kashmiri literature. The Ramyana got renown throughout Kashmir particularly among the Kashmiri Pandits. Shri Prakash Ram has also written Akanandun and Krishna avtar Lila and as such he got reorganization in every corner of the valley because of Ramayana.
