Jammu, January 12 (Scoop News) Stressing to preserve the oldest word treasure of Gojri language by documenting its folk ,modern and Sufi literature –the participants of state level Seminar on ‘Gojri Sufi Poetry’ held here at Seminar Hall of Abhinav Theatre Complex today called for speedy development of this third largest spoken language of Jammu and Kashmir. They urged upon authorities to ensure constitutional protection to Gojri which is an oldest and significant tribal language of the country spoken by scheduled tribe Gujjar-Bakerwals.
Organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages the seminar was inaugurated by Ch Aijaz Ahmad Khan, Minister of State for Haj and Auqaf while eminent Gujjar leader Ch. Gulzar Khatana, Farooq Nazki Media Advisor to Government were in the presidium.
Welcoming the guests Dr. Javaid Rahi , Chief Editor of State Academy said that the main objective of organize this Seminar was to propagate the massage and philosophy of Sufi Poets who enriched Gojri Language with their valuable poetry. He said Gojri has a strong tradition of mysticism and poets like Mian Nizam-ud-Din Larvi (RA), Sain Qadar Baksh, Khuda Bakhash Zar, Mian Fathy Mohammd Darhalvi, Shamas Din Mahjoor, Ismail Zabeh, Israel Asar and others have contributed richest compositions of in early decades of twentieth century which gave strong foundation to this ancient tribal language.
Aijaz Ahmed Khan in his inaugural speech said that Gojri is laced with infulance of Sufi cult and has futunatly being very much adoptive in embracing the ideals of Sufism. Laying stress on embacing the culture of Sufi –Nights the Minister said that it would be a kind boon for propogation of Gojri language and Culture if went ahead with such a concept. He said government is committed to develop Gojri on modern lines too.
Appreciating the initiative of Gojri wing of Academy for holding this purposeful event in winter capital the Minister said such type of events helps our writer fraternity to share their views at one platform.
Reputed scholar of Gojri language Ch. Hussan Parwaz in his key note address said that there is an urgent need to document mystic poetry of Gojri Language in printed form . He said Si Harfi’s, Bara-Mah , Kafi, and Dohas are main forms used by mystic poets to express their philosophy in Gojri.
The first papers on different aspect of Gojri Sufi poetry includes Ch. Naseem Poonchi, Ch. Gulzar Khatana, Karam Din Chopra, Ch.Fazal Mushtaq, Abdul Ghani Jagal, Hameed Kassana, Ch Amin Qammar, Fida Rajourvi.
A State level Gojri Mushaira was also held in the evening in which 40 poets across the state participated.Prominent Gojri and Urdu poet Ch Ahmad Shanas presided over the session.
