President of India, Vice President,J&K Governor & CM greet people on Holi

Jammu, March 18 (Scoop News) – The President of India, Pratibha Devisingh Patil, Vice President of India M. Hamid Ansari, The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, J&K Governor N. N. Vohra, Chief Minster Omar Abdulla have greeted people on the eve of Holi, the festival of colours.

 

The President of India, Pratibha Devisingh Patil in her message on the occasion of the festival of Holi, which falls on Saturday has said,“On the joyous occasion of Holi, I have great pleasure to extend my greetings and good wishes.

May this unique festival of colours, bring joy and happiness and foster the spirit of unity and harmony amongst our citizens.”

 

The Vice President of India M. Hamid Ansari has greeted the people on the occasion of Holi, the festival of colours. In his message he has said that Holi, is celebrated with joyous gaiety and this festival brings forth the tradition of reinforcing unity amidst diversity. It also marks the onset of spring. May this Festival fill our lives with happiness and promote national integration”

 

While greeting the people on the joyous occasion of Holi, the Governor of J&K ,  N. N. Vohra, has prayed that the festival of colours would foster harmony and peace and bring progress and prosperity in the State.

 

In his message of felicitations, the Governor observed that festivals are an important component of our rich cultural heritage which strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, love and amity. He expressed sincere hope that the coming Holi would spread happiness and joy all around and further promote harmony and brotherhood.

The Governor prayed for the well-being of the people of the State.   

 

     

 In a felicitation message on the eve of Holi, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has wished happiness and well being to the people.

          The Chief Minister expressed the hope that the day would be harbinger for peace and development in the State.

 

 

The Deputy Chief Minister,  Tara Chand has also greeted the people on the eve of Holi, the festival of colours and said that the day reminds us the victory of good over the evil.

 

            In his felicitation message,  Tara Chand said that this festival bridges the social gap and renews sweet relationship.

 

Peoples Democratic Party Patron Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, President Mehbooba Mufti have greeted the people on the occasion of Holi.

 

In a joint massage from Jammu today the two leaders said the auspicious occasion of Holi, the festival of colours is the harbinger of joy, happiness and fulfilment, as it is celebrated at the onset of spring. Just like the myriad colours of Holi, our nation too is replete with diversity and let us learns to respect and protect the vibrant culture of ours. Let the celebrations this year also bring the young and the old together and the joyous festivities infuse in us, a sense of compassion for our fellow human beings in our life."

They said that the festive spirit of Holi transcends all social barriers and strengthens the social fabric. The duo called upon the people to celebrate this festival and to promote harmony, happiness and integration.

It may be mentioned here that Holi is one of the major festivals of India, Holi is celebrated with enthusiasm and gaiety on the full moon day in the month of Phalgun which is the month of March as per the Gregorian calendar

 

Holi festival has an ancient origin and celebrates the triumph of ‘good’ over ‘bad’. The colorful festival bridges the social gap and renew sweet relationships. On this day, people hug and wish each other ‘Happy Holi’.  Holi celebration begins with lighting up of bonfire on the Holi eve.

 

Numerous legends & stories associated with Holi celebration makes the festival more exuberant and vivid. People rub ‘gulal’ and ‘abeer’ on each others’ faces and cheer up saying, "bura na maano Holi hai". Holi also gives a wonderful chance to send blessings and love to dear ones wrapped in a special Holi gift.
