Vohra and other leaders of political parties have greeted people on the auspicious occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti
The President of India, Pratibha Devisingh Patil has sent her greetings to fellow countrymen on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti which is being celebrated tomorrow.
In a message, the President has said, “On the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Devji, I convey my heartiest greetings to all my fellow citizens.
May the great Guru’s teachings of peace, harmony and compassion guide us to follow them in our daily lives.”
The Vice President of India M. Hamid Ansari has greeted the people on the holy and auspicious occasion of Guru Nanak’s birthday. In his message, he has said that Guru Nanak Devji has been apostle of universal love, piety and spiritual faith. His divine teachings guide us on the path of social harmony and unity.
He said,“I convey my greetings and good wishes to the people of our country on the holy and auspicious occasion of Guru Nanak’s Birthday. Guru Nanak Devji has been apostle of universal love, piety and spiritual faith. His divine teachings guide us on the path of social harmony and unity.
On this joyous occasion let us pray that his ideals of humanism and social equality inspire us to move towards a peaceful and just society.”
The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh has greeted the nation on the auspicious occasion of Guru Nanak’s birthday.
In his message, Dr. Manmohan Singh said that Guru Nanakji’s life and message of brotherhood and equality of man remains relevant today. The Prime Minister said that by following the teachings of Guru Nanakji, the world can overcome differences and work together to fight ignorance, poverty , hunger and disease.
The Governor of J&K, N. N. Vohra, has extended warm greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Guru Nanak Dev’s Birthday.
In a message of felicitations, the Governor described Guru Nanak Devji as an apostle of peace and tolerance who endeavoured, his entire life, for securing social justice, equality and harmony in the society. He added that Guruji’s teachings shall continue to inspire generations to come, guiding and encouraging them to tread the path of righteousness and brotherhood.
The Governor hoped that this auspicious occasion would strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, communal harmony and amity and prayed for peace, progress and prosperity in the State.
Meanwhile Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Samoon has today felicitated the people of the Valley especially Sikh Community on the eve of Guru Nanak Devji’s birthday.
In his message, Dr. Samoon said that Guru Nanak Devji’s was a great saint and throughout his life he stood for non violence, humanity, brotherhood, communal harmony, tolerance, equality and truth.
It may be mentioned here that the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji- the first & the founder guru of the Sikhs, is celebrated with great fervour on the full moon day of Kartika. Guru Parab is one of the most sacred festivals of the Sikhs.
Also known as ‘ Guru Nanak Jayanti ‘, it is the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak who founded the Sikh faith. For two days and nights preceding the festival, the ‘Granth Sahib’ (Holy Book) is read and on the day of the festival, taken out in a grand procession. Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of the Sikh faith, was born in the month o(Holy Book) f Kartik (October / November) and his birthday is known as Guru Nanak Jayanti. 1469 A.D. The anniversaries of Sikh Guru’s are known as Gurpurabs and are celebrated with devotion and dedication.
