<p>President of Malawi Dr. Bingu Wa Mutharika has threatened Parliamentarians in Malawi that he will be forced to call for early general elections should they continue to insist not to discuss the 2007/2008 national budget.</p><br />
<p>Speaking at Balaka in Southern Malawi Tuesday, Mutharika said the parliamentarians do not have the welfare of people at heart.</p><br />
<p>"I have never seen any country in the world where parliamentarians discuss the budget for four months.They do not have the welfare of people at heart," he said.</p><br />
<p>He said section 65 which the parliamentarians insist should be discussed is not beneficial to the people of malawi.</p><br />
<p>However,lawyers have doubted whether the president has the legal mandate to call for early elections saying the constitution is silent on the matter.</p>
