President Professor Dr Iajuddin Ahmed has formally invited the leader of Grand Alliance and Awami League President, Sheikh Hasina to form a new government.
Md Sirajul Islam, secretary to the President’s office yesterday told that the President has invited Sheikh Hasina to form a new government as the majority leader. The President telephoned Sheikh Hasina at 12.30 pm yesterday and congratulated her on being elected leader of the House.
"The President will appoint Sheikh Hasina as Prime Minister today. Cabinet secretary Md Abdul Aziz will hand over the appointment letter to Sheikh Hasina this morning on behalf of the President," he said.
"Prime Minister-designate Sheikh Hasina will hand over a list of her cabinet ministers to the cabinet secretary for reaching it to the President for appointing them as ministers, state ministers and deputy ministers," Sirajul Islam added.
He also said that the Bangabhaban is ready for the ceremony.
Leader of the House Sheikh Hasina and her new cabinet ministers will be sworn in at Bangabhaban today at 6.30 PM by President Professor Dr Iajuddin Ahmed.
Meanwhile, the cabinet division has finalised all preparations for the oath-taking ceremony.
