Press TV incited the sentiments of people by telecasting shameful act.

         Srinagar, September 13 (Scoop News) -The Minister for Rural Development  A. M. Sagar and Minister for Agriculture  G. H. Mir have said that the world had described the proposed desecration of holy Quran by Pastor Terry Jones as highly intolerable act. They said that our state of Jammu and Kashmir was front runner in condemning the Pastor Terry Jones. The Ministers said that due to the personal intervention of President of America,  Barak Obama, this shameful act was cancelled. However, only one TV channel (press tv) incited the sentiments of people by telecasting an un-identified person showing committing this shameful act.

            The Ministers said that this was only telecasted by this news channel in the world which has hurt the sentiments of the people and we along with other Muslim community condemned this shameful act in United States by one mad individual. They said the conspiracy behind this act needs to be unearthed.

            The Ministers appealed the people to control their sentiments and maintain calm.

            The Ministers were addressing a press conference at Civil Secretariat here today.

            The Ministers described today’s reaction in the valley as a result of the holy Quran issue and said that Chief Minister, , Omar Abdullah has also condemned issue raised earlier by Pastor Terry Jones.

            The Ministers said no channel in the world other than Press TV gave coverage to this issue adding that the Government after confirming the authorization of this TV channel from Ministry of Information & Broadcasting found that the said channel is not registered. As such the Government put ban on the telecast of the said channel forthwith.

            Regarding the protests and demonstrations held against the issue in various parts of the valley, the Ministers said these were the reactions and anger of the people against this shameful act. They said the State and Central Governments have already condemned the Pastor Terry Jones for his proposed shameful act regarding holy Quran.

             Sagar said that in the past also, some vested interests tried to desecrate the holy Quran but never succeeded. He said “Allah has himself taken responsibility of safeguarding of his holy Quran”.

            Replying to a question,  Sagar said Government would never desire to have any untoward incident or innocent killings. He appealed the media to play their role in disseminating the factual reports to the people. He said government has already initiated measures for bringing the state back on rails.
