The Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh would be undergoing a by-pass surgery on Saturday, the 24th Jan 009, it is officially learnt. He would be admitted to AIMMS around 3.00 P.M. today. He had complained uneasiness for quite some time and had undergone a series of medical checkups and the doctors seem to have finally decided to conduct the surgery.
External Affairs Minister, Pranabl Mukerjee would officiate on urgent matters when Dr.Singh is in the hospital. The sources in the Congress Party had dismissed the speculation that Mr.Mukerjee would be a ‘caretaker PM’ as the PM is reported to be fine and there is nothing to suggest that the surgery would pose serious risk. He may require a week to recover and during this period he would be consulted on all important issues.
If the party decides otherwise, Mr.Mukerjee would have to take an oath of office which is practically ruled out.
Let us all pray to the God for the smooth conduct of the surgery and speedy recovery of this fine gentleman whom India is privileged to has as the PM.
