Probe demanded in water supply scheme

 

Probe into Water supply scheme demanded.

 

CHITRAL:  An emergency meeting of residents of Istach and Kotan Lasht (Brep) villages  held here under the chair of Mirkon Wali Khan former Councilor which was attended by a large number of notables of the area. Inhabitants of the area expressed their great concern over incomplete scheme of water supply by water management department. They said that residents of the area had been assured by Ahmad Khan president of water supply scheme, Mustafa Aman vice president and Syed Mukhtar Shah finance secretary that water supply scheme would be completed with a cost of 1.8 million (18,00000) by water management department on the condition that labor work will be done free of cost by local people. As well as all material and technical support will be provided by Water Management Department but they failed to do so. They said that hundred of local people were engaged in this scheme by digging, excavation water channel and carrying pipeline. They said that only 10% work was done and the scheme was left incomplete. Nor the departments provided material nor fund for completion this scheme as a result people of the area are facing numerous problems.

 

Standing crops of the area are withered and dried due to drought and people of the area also badly suffering even from non availability of potable drinking and irrigation water. Residents of the area through a unanimous resolution  have appeals to President and Prime Minister of Pakistan as well as Provincial Chief Minster, MNA, MPA Chitral, high ups of water management, District Nazim of Chitral and District Coordination Officer Chitral to conduct an inquiry and probe into the matter that why the water supply scheme was left incomplete and where that fund was embezzled or spent because the same was not spent on water supply scheme for which it had been allocated. They also warn if the incomplete water supply scheme was not completed the inhabitants of the area will migrate to other place as protest. They also appeal to concern quarter and donor agencies as well as non government organizations to help them in completion of a school constructing on self help basis and provide them irrigation and drinking water.

 

3 injured by firing on land dispute.

 

As well as 3 real brothers were injured when a man opened indiscriminating firing on them. According to police station Ayun report accused Shakirullah son of Zafeerullah opened fire on Suhail Ahamd, Jawad Ahmad and Suhaib Ahmad sons of Siraj Ahmad resident of Maskoor near Ayun village and injured them badly. The injured persons were immediately rushed to District Headquarters Hosopital Chitral while Ayun police arrested the accused with rifle and lodged FIR against him. Reasons behind death attempt is telling  land dispute between two parties.

 

Free training program launched at 3 Star Women Skill Development Center Mastuj

 

Poor and deserving female will be trained in different skill, like sewing, embroidery and handicrafts to enable them to gain their livelihood with a fear and honorable ways says Miss Shakira Naz Managing Director of 3 Star Skill Development Center Tooq Hazrat Abad Tehsil Mastuj district Chitral. She said that the center is running by 3 sisters and that is why we name it 3 stars that were trained by AKRSP at first and now they have trained 782 female students. She said while talking to local journalists that we had opened this center for alleviation of poverty and wants to support other helpless and poor female of the area by imparting them different trainings to enable them to gain their livelihood. She said at first phase we giving free training for 2 months on self help basis but it can be prolonged if we were supported by governmental or any non governmental organization (NGO) or any donor agency. She also thanked Aga Khan Rural Support Program for arranging a meeting with them through their social mobilizer Hajia Bibi who listened our problems and appreciated our work. She said that we have already trained 38 female who are members of 3 star women skill development Organizations but nor a government neither any NGO supported us financially. Miss Shakira Naz said that we want to expand our work to other areas and to train more people but we facing some problems like shortage of place (center) and finance. “we also want to launch training in sewing of paint shirt, fruit processing, cooking, and other skills and handicrafts but we need support of donors for this purpose” Miss Naz said. She appeal to President, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Provincial Chief Minister, NGOs and donor agencies to support them financially for continuation of their mission by imparting free training to women folk of the area to alleviate their poverty and giving them equal opportunities of employment.
