Srinagar, February 20 (Scoop News) – J&K Congress leader and MLC Abdul Gani Vakil today pleaded Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to take stringent action against all those corrupt officers because of whom state has been ranked as the second most corrupt state in the country.
Congress leader and MLC Abdul Gani Vakil was addressing a gathering at village Dangiwacha in Rafiabad constituency of Baramulla district in North Kashmir.
“We are with you Chief Minister and would stand firmly behind you when you would begin acting against the land grabbers and nepotist elements,” asserted the former Minister for Social Welfare.
Reiterating the recent disclosure in media about land grabbing by politicians and officials, Vakil again implored upon Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to order a high level probe either by a high court judge or by CBI. He stressed that nexus is deep-rooted and needs hammer handed approach. Vakil urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah that apart from ordering a probe, stringent action should be taken against all those who are involved in this land grabbing across entire Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that separatists should not refrain from talking to New Delhi’s interlocutors on Jammu and Kashmir. They should welcome the invitation extended by interlocutors and participate in the dialogue process if they are sincerely seeking return of permanent peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that Hurriyat leadership should read writing on the wall. “Time is running fast. They have to take a decision either to abandon politics of violence and destruction or to sit on the table and get the issue resolved forever,” added Vakil.
He stressed that violence only breads hatred and leaves scars to be filled for years to come. “We should realize our responsibility towards the people of our state. They have expectations from all us whether we are from mainstream or the separatist background,” Vakil said while reiterating that if the separatists miss the bus this time, they would be left with no option but to quit active politics.
Others who also spoke on the occasion included Haji Ali Mohammed Bhat MLC, General Secretary PCC Abdul Ahad Yattoo, Youth leader Altaf Ahmed Malik and senior congress leader Abdul Rahim Wani.
