Procession against polythene in North Kashmir

Baramulla(Kashmir),August 8 (Vijay Kumar) – After successful ban on polythene in Srinagar city initiated by the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC)with full support of 14 lac people of the city, anti polythene campaign is spreading in other parts of valley. On Saturday, biggest procession on the streets of Sopore and Baramulla towns where thousands of young boys and girls raised slogans  for ensuring ban on polythene in Baramulla and Sopore in the same manner as its ban has been ensured in Srinagar city.

            The procession was organized by District Information Centre Baramulla in collaboration with Welkin Educational Trust and Traders Federation and Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla was leading the procession himself.

People came out from their houses and supported the district administration for its campaign against polythene. The people were of the view that polythene is cause of all ailments in Kashmir both to human bodies as well as environment. They appreciated the Chief Minister Oman Abdullah for banning polythene and also Srinagar Municipal Corporation for its bold initiative against polythene. They said the district administration and municipal councils of other districts may concentrate on eliminating this disastrous element from all parts of Baramulla and Sopore immediately.

            Later Deputy Commissioner distributed prized and certificates to Owais Sidiqui, Shugufta and Insha Feroz
