The departed valiant television star and Australian environmentalist Steve Irwin will posthumously receive a professorship for his research work with animals, a University official of University of Queensland said. The crocodile hunter had been named an adjunct professor at the shortly before his death after 2006, said Craig Franklin, a lecturer at the campus and a friend of Irwin. However Irwin was killed by a stingray while filming on Australia’s great barrier reef before he could find about the award, Franklin said.
