A new project to map all areas in the country using a three-dimensional satellite imagery would be launched soon, Union Minister of Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Kapil Sibal said here.
"We are going to map all the areas in the country and a law would soon enacted in Parliament to launch the project", he told reporters on the sideline of Golden Jubliee celebrations of IIT Madras.
However, the minister did not disclose the date of the launch. "It is a huge project. Government alone cannot accompalish. It would be a PPP model".
"All your taxes would be paid without sending an inspector to your houses with the help of this technology", he said adding this would also help the agriculture sector in the country to mesure the field and soil.
He said the scientists were working for the past three and half years. "We are woking on it for the past three years".
Sibal said in 2006, we got rid of the embargo in mapping India and now we are moving forward.
