Srinagar, May 12 (Scoop News) – Tagore Hall which is seat for promotion of culture art and language in the state is being renovated and modernized at a revised cost of Rs 12.45 crore for which the government has directed J&K Academy of Art, Cultural and Languages for ensuing time bound remuneration and modernization through nominated executing agency, JKPCC.
The Minister for Tourism and Culture Nawang Rigzin Jora said this today while inspecting and taking stock of the renovation work of Tagore Hall. He was accompanied by the Secretary Tourism and Culture, Atul Dulloo, MD JKPCC M. M. Gupta, and other concerned officers.
The efforts of the government for upgradation of facilities by adopting modern technology so that this art and cultural hub of the valley which is seat for the promotion of art, culture and languages and theatre is among the priorities of the government and setting up such units in other parts of the state is also being explored, the Minister said.
The Minister while inspecting the Tagore Hall discussed the reconstruction of stage, acrostic treatment of walls, seating arrangement, HVAC, on stage lighting, FOH, audio-visual sound system etc and directed the officers to complete these works within shortest possible period of time.
The Minister was informed that out of Rs 12.45 crore of revised proposals of the project and an amount of Rs 2.75 crore have been expanded so far.
It was also informed that the facilities in the revised projects covers the complete HVAC system upgradation of audio video and lighting as per latest technology and scissor light for the state, with electrical AVR backup, landscaping of lawns, reconstruction of compound walls using debris stone, plant rooms for HVAC which will cater the requirements of conducting the cultural and other activities on modern lines.
