Protection of Environment stressed in Seminar

Clean & Green Chitral Award distribution ceremony held.

CHITRAL:  To recognize and acknowledge services of senior citizen an award districution ceremony was held here at Commerce College Hall Chitral. The first military officer of Chitral Col. Retired of Indian Army and later on Pakistan Army Khush Waqtul Mulk was chief guest on the occasion while the ceremony was presided over by Capt. Siraul Muld while District Police officer Chitral Saleem Khan Marwat was also present on the occasion. The award distribution ceremony was held in connection to celebrate world environmental day arranged by Rahmat Capacity Building Center (RCBC) Booni Chitral some 75 KM from here. The ceremony carrying the main objective to give a message to youngest to follow their elders  for keeping Chitral clean and green as a result they were appreciated and given awards. Chief executive of RCBC Rahmat Ali Jafar described the objectives of the day and stressed the community members to come forward to work voluntarily for the protection of Chitral,s natural environment. Islamuddin Principal Pamir Public School & College, Muhammad Rahim, of Professional Development Center and other spoke on the occasion. They emphasized that keeping the natural environment clean and green is the need of the hour if we have to protect our natural generation.

A senior citizen Subadar retired Mehboob Alam said that we have forgotten our rich culture. The people of Chitral he maintained should love with their beautiful valley the way we protect our family and children. Chitral is our motherland and we have to doe everything to protect its beauty and health. The speakers stressed upon the participants to take care of the culture and environment of Chitral. At last Col retired Khushwaqtul Mulk distributed awards, certificates amongst the pioneer in the field of Flying, Paragliding, Music, political and social field etc.

World Environmental Day Celebrated at Chitral.

CHITRAL:  World Environmental Day was celebrated at Garamchishma Chitral some 55 KM from here. To aware the masses regarding to  protect and provide clean environment to future generation a walk was also held in this connection participated by both male and female activists carrying banners inscribing the message to public to protect the environment for future generation. The day was commemorated and organized by Aga Khan Rural Support Program (AKRSP) in collaboration with Garamchishma Area Development Program (GADAO) and Drought Mitigation and Preparedness Plan (DMPP) funded by Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF). The walk comprising over a large number of male and female passes through different Bazaars and markets with slogan to protect the environment. After awareness raising walk a seminar was also held at Pamier Degree College Hall. Where speakers highlighted importance of environment and stressed upon the masses to must preserve the natural resources and protect the environment for best life of our selves and best future of our young generation. They said that the human being is responsible for violating and deteriorating natural environment as a result we suffering from different problems and facing a lot of loses in shape of land erosion and tremendous flood as well as natural calamity and disaster. They said that disturbing the environment not only they badly affect our present life but also harmful for our future because due to global warming the centuries old glaciers are melting frequently and Seal level is raising if the situation remained the same it is feared that Karachi might be drowned in sea water after 2050.

They said that main objectives of these walks and seminars to create and raise awareness among the general public regarding protection and conservation of environment. They said that we cutting forest aggressively as a result not only our pleasant environment polluting but we also face great loss in case of flood and erosion of land by rivers. They said that we also contaminating potable drinking water which is using for drinking purposes in down areas causing for incurable diseases. They said if we not protect of God bestowed clean environment we will be suffered from different natural calamities and disasters. They said this is our moral responsibility to maintain the environment clean and to present it as a gift to our coming generation.

Farid Ahmad Manager AKRSP said that DMPP working for mitigating drought in the area and to alleviate poverty through gross root level. He said that we also work on protection for range land management, behaviors changes toward environment, livelihood improvement by natural resources management, in joint venture of AKRSP and PPAF partnership. Those who spoke on the occasion were Shereen Khan Nazim Union Council Garamchishma, Amir Wali Khan President Aga Khan Local Council Board, Adina Shah of Agha Khan Education Service for Pakistan, Amirullah Manger Focus Humanitarian Assistance, Miss Gulshida Bibi and other. A large number of people belongs to all walk of life participated in awareness walk and seminar on the occasion.
