Drosh consumers postponed strike until 8th April against.
CHITRAL: Hundred of anger protestors who have blocked main Peshawar Chitral road at Sheshi Bridge against failure of power supply from Sheshi Hydro Power project (SHPP) of 1.8 megawatt which was constructed by Sarhad Hydro Development Organization (SHYDO) postponed their strike for a week. The anger protesters were in the opinion that SHYDO a provincial government department badly failed to complete this power house timely they said that the power house already completed two years late but even than its generation system could not restored. Earlier that they had protested against it and had blocked main road as protest. As a result they success to run the power house by force and it started power generation in February and March. Hence its water channel having fault due to using of substandard material and the power house management requested to give them some time for its maintenance. Members of restoration of electricity committee Drosh had given them deadline of 1st April for its maintenance but they failed to complete maintenance of water channel and to start power generation.
As a result hundred of anger protests on expiring of deadline came on roads and they blocked main Peshawar Chitral road as a protest. They chanted slogan against SHYDO and power house staff including contractor. They demanded from the provincial government to probe in the matter and conduct an inquiry to ascertain reasons of this fault and to give exemplary punishment to defaulter and responsible persons of this fault. District officer Revenue and Estate (DORE) Akbar Jalal Khan went on the spot and held negotiations with the anger protesters to convince them for opening the road. Hence they demanded for giving them a deadline and insuring power supply on deadline. The district administration given them deadline of 8th April and assured them that they will contact high ups of SHYDO to assure completion and maintenance of power house so as to enable it to start power generation from 8th April. Protesters agreed on his plea they opened road and dispersed peacefully. Talking to this scribe Wor Muhammad a local consumer from Drosh told that two persons have been arrested who were members of our committee.
