Protest against SRSP

Residents of Jinjirat protest against illegal distribution of water.

CHITRAL: Residents of Jinjirat, Dap, Dameek and Osiak villages protested against distribution of  water on injustice basis by Sarhad Rural Support Program (SRSP) to oblige only one family. In this connection a public meeting was also held under the chair of Hajji Muazzam Khan former president trade union Drosh. Addressing to the public meeting the speakers said that the area already suffering a number of problems but some elements create more problems for these people. They said that residents of the area using water of Jinjirat goal for drinking and irrigation purposes and Jan family have the right to benefit from this channel only for drinking purposes. But SRSP constructing water stream for Jan family,s land from this channel as a result people of the area will be face shortage of water in winter season. As well as garden of Chitral scouts will also face acute shortage of irrigation water.

They demanded from high ups of SRSP and Commandant Chitral Scouts to stop work of water stream by SRSP which can be caused for disturbing peaceful environment of the area.

During the public meeting they also pass unanimous resolution. Through a resolution they demanded for protection bund on river side for protection of thousands of Acre land at Dameek Lasht,  Jinjirat and Osiak. Some 200 households also badly affecting by river erosion and 15 people lost their lives during tremendous flood the area need protection on urgent basis.

They demanded from provincial government as well as high ups of Communication and Works department for conducting inquiry in Jinjirat road which has been shown blacktopping in papers by C&W but the road is still earthen and they embezzled  huge fund in this road.

They appeal to federal and provincial government for protection of 5000 Acre land from river erosion and urged for construction of Protection wall on river bank to save these cultivable land and a number of houses of poor people. Those who spoke on the occasion were Inamullah, Suboor Qureshi, Iqblaul Mulk, Muazzam Khan, Akbal Bhutto and other. At last the public meeting was disbursed with praying words of Khateeb Jami Masjid Jinjirat.
