SIALKOT: The disappointed people seeking flour staged the peaceful demonstrations outside the several flour mills in Daska, Sambrial and Satrah as a protest against the unavailability of the flour there.
They chanted slogans against the flour mills and cursed the concerned government functionaries for allegedly not taking any practical step to curb the menace of the persisting flour crisis in the district.
They said “Atta Crisis: was aggregating day by day. The affected people said that the district administration still remains unable to make some effective steps to over come the menace of the Aata shortage in the district, besides, giving any relief to the common people in this regard.
Role of Malhi, Cheema for Sambrial criticised: In constituency NA-113 Daska, the PML-Q’s former state minister for defence Ali Asjad Malhi, former MPA Ch Mumtaz Ali (from PP-130 Daska) and former tehsil nazim Ejaz Ahmad Cheema have been facing strong public criticism for playing their important role in making Sambrial as tehsil on political grounds during their past fiver years’ tenure.
The people said the Das ka-based former MNA and MPA remained in forefront in getting the tehsil status for Sambrial allegedly for their personal political gains.
Youth tortured to death in police custody: A youth was allegedly tortured to death by police under the police custody, Friday.
According to details, the aggrieved family of the deceased Muhammad Asim (26) told the newsmen that the Hajipura police had arrested him from his house in Gohdpur-Sialkot (about two weeks ago) for his suspect involvement in some dacoity cases.
73 polling stations declared sensitive in district: According to the official sources, 73 polling stations in the district have been declared sensitive and the strict security measures have been ordered at these sensitive declared polling stations to ensure free, fair, impartial, transparent and peaceful general elections.

73 candidates emerge for NA, 187 for PA seats: As many as 73 candidates have filed papers for five seats of National Assembly while 187 candidates have filed their papers for 11 Provincial Assembly seats of district.
There are 147,5270 registered voters in the district of which 667,241 are female. The constituency-wise registered voters as per computerised electoral rolls 2007 is NA-110 275,867 out of which 128,468 are female, NA-Sialkot-111 301,196 out of which 135,260 are female, NA-Sialkot-1V – 283406 of which 125,518 are female and NA-Sialkot-V -306,986 out of which 138,946 are female voters.
One woman candidate has filed nomination for national assembly seat while two have filed nominations for provincial assembly seats.
