Protestor killed in Kashmir

A spokesman of the Police Department this evening said that one person namely Imtiyaz Ahmed Ganai R/o Shopian was killed and two injured in a firing incident at Shopian. Curfew has been imposed in the town.
Giving details the spokesman said that an unruly mob resorted to heavy stone pelting on the Police/CRPF after offering Friday prayers. Exercising restraint forces tried to disperse the violent mob but in vain, the spokesman said adding that forces had to open fire to quell violent mob resulting in the death of one person at Shopian and injuring two others.
The spokesman further said that in all 18 persons including 6 cops were injured in the stone pelting and one civilian was referred to SKIMS.
He said that stone pelting was still going on in Nowhatta area till last reports reached here. He said 5 cops and one civilian at Maisuma were injured in the stone pelting. The tear gas shells were used by Police/CRPF to disperse the protestors
