Jammu, May 4 (Scoop News) –Principal Secretary Home Department, Suresh Kumar, accompanied by Director General of Prisons, K Rajindra, today visited Central Jail Kot-Bhalwal in connection with the yesterday’s incident of attack on a jail inmate.
The Principle Home Secretary and Director General Prisons took stock of situation and reviewed the security arrangements of the Central Jail.
The Home Secretary also chaired a meeting of senior officers of the Central Jail and issued necessary directions with regard to the strengthening of jail security and safety of the inmates. He asked the officers to make sure that such type of incidents may not occur in the future.
Meanwhile The Government has ordered that Principal Secretary to Government, Home Department, Suresh Kumar shall hold the enquiry into the incident which took place at Central Jail, Kote Bhalwal, Jammu on May 03, 2013 in which a life convicted prisoner namely Sonaullah son of Ashiq Hussain resicent of Daluwali Sialkot, Pakistan got injured, instead of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu.
Sanaullah was serving a life term after being convicted under TADA provisions following his arrest in 1999.
A resident of Sialkot in Pakistan, Sanuallah was immediately shifted from high-security Kot Balwal jail to Government Medical College hospital and later rushed to PGI Chandigarh in an air ambulance after doctors said his condition was critical.
But officials in New Delhi said today , Sanuallah remained serious but stable.
The incident involving Sanaullah comes a day after the death of Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh after a murderous attack on him in a Lahore prison.
