Publish America (a notorious publishing company based out of Frederick, Maryland) has resurfaced courting once again their latest controversy.
In late 2009, they signed a then 14 year old Derick Goff to a heavy duty publishing contract allowing his books to be published. According to Derick "Everything was fine until my second book was published, I began noticing my royalties weren’t being paid and nothing was going according to plan’.
Derick nnow (16) has been aboard Publish America for a near staggering three years, published two books, and lived life as a teen author; quite the dream right?
Not for Derick once November of 2010 rolled around. In November of 2010, Publish America knowingly gave Derick’s personal information to a complete stranger over the phone. His personal information including birthdate/birthname etc can now be found over the internet due to the breach of privacy Publish America has committed.
When confronted about the courting controversy Publish America denied all claims of a violation, and even retorted to ignoring phone calls from the 16 year old.
According to interest research, Publish America has committed the same thing to now nearly 15,000 authors worldwide.
