LAHORE
Punjab Government has directed the District Officer Environment Lahore to furnish site inspection report within seven days regarding more than 200 marble cutters working within congested residential areas of the city and causing environmental degradation by emission of marble dust, noise pollution and traffic congestion which is adversely affecting the adjoining vicinities.
According to a survey, more than 200 marble factories are running in the thickly populated areas of Lahore due to that people are facing great difficulties and health hazardness due to ill impact of persistent operation of these units. The concerned officers have been directed to furnish report in respect of each unit functioning within residential / commercial areas separately within seven days. In this connection, written instructions have been conveyed to the concerned quarters. After receiving the report of the concerned officers, action will be taken against such factories causing environmental pollution under the Environmental Protection Order (EPO).
