It is downright frustrating to hear that the suspects in the killing and beheading of at least 10 soldiers in the Philippines are still at large. And just to divert the public’s attention on the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), whose members were suspected as the ones who carried out the gruesome crime which is considered a clear violation of the Geneva Conventions and international human rights, by releasing kidnapped Italian priest Father Bossi on Thursday last week.
And now the Philippine military doesn’t seem to know what exactly to do in order to arrest the killers, which the MILF claimed are not their members. Nobody is certain now if the MILF is telling the truth, just because the suspects have committed a crime that is viewed by most people as inhuman and barbaric in that aspect. But for sure, the MILF said that it is bent on conducting its own investigation if only to prove to the world that they do not condone this kind of barbarism among their members.
Pending the results of proper investigations being conducted by both the MILF and the Philippnie military, it is about time that the administration must make a move to flush out those who killed the soldiers and bring them to the bars of justice. But it seemed that nothing much is happening except for more publicity circus which all the more make the problem bit more complicated. If the Philippine military is hell bent on stopping this kind of barbarism, which Muslim extremists are wont to do, they should act now with persistence and determination, without violating the peace negotiation with the MILF.
