5 annual Qaqlasht festival concluded.
CHITRAL: Five days long annual festival of Qaqlasht was ended at green carpeted plateau of Qaqlasht near Booni some 80 KM from here. Qaqlasht ground consisting on thousands of Acres land surrounding snow covered peaks from four sides having vast grounds where so many games are playing at one time. During the 5 days festival 14 football teams, 18 Volley Ball teams, 22 Cricket teams, 7 free style polo teams, 2 Tug of War teams, 10 falconry and 12 persons participated in Sia Kaman (shooting competition by centuries old traditional rifles with explosive). Besides it culture show, poetry and Chitrali music were main sources of enthralling the tourists. In final matches Union Council Kosht football team defeated Biyar football team, Booni Cricket team defeated Brother Eleven cricket team, Chitral scouts volley ball team defeated Charun volley ball tam, Biyar team defeated Mulkoh team in tug of war match Syed Ahmad Shah won in falconry and Faizur Rehman of Kosht team declared first in shooting competition. The event was sponsored by Tourism Corporation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa formerly known as STC which was organized by Chitral Association for Mountain Areas Tourism (CAMAT) in collaboration of volunteer group of Qaqlasht festival committee. During the volley ball match Commandant Chitral Scouts Colonel Haroon Rashid was chief guest who awarded 10000 to winner team, 5000 to runner up and 1000 to best player Hamayun. In final day of the festival member provincial Assembly of KP Haji Ghulam Muhammad was chief guest who distributed trophies and cups among the winner and runner up team. He also announced of rupees 50000 for organizing committee and 10000 for football winner team while Shahzada Khalid Parvez president of all Pakistan Muslim league also announced of rupees 50000 for management of Qaqlasht festival. Shahzada Sikandarul Mulk Chairman of Qaqlasht committee thanked Khyber Tourism Corporation and especially Muhammad Azam Khan Managing Director of tourism corporation KP for sponsoring this event. He also thanked team of foreigner electronic media who converging the even first time on international level. Hence foreigners tourists could not attended the even due to continue cancellation of PIA flights for the last 4 days. A large number of people including women, children and students attended the annual festival of Qaqlasht.
DSP Inayatullah passes away.
Sub Divisional Police Officer Drosh Inayatullah passes away by heart failure. He has served as SHO Drosh Chitral and in so many police stations of Chitral. Recently he was serving as Deputy Superintendent of Police at Drosh. He was laid to rest at his ancestral grave yard at Bakarabad. A large number of people belongings to all walk of life attended his funeral prayer.
1000 telephone disconnected due to breaking of main cable by C&W.
some 1000 telephone lines were disconnected when main cable was damaged by Communication and Works (C&W) department during construction of by pass road near Chew bridge. Earlier that C&W had damaged 700 lines cable as a result 700 people deprived from telephone facilities for more than one month hence due to incapability of Assistant Business Manager of PTCL Bakht Baider no case was lodged against C&W department and they damaged main cable of PTCL second time as a result thousands of consumers were deprived from phone facilities for the last 6 days but no action has been taken in this regard. Social and political circle of Chitral have demanded from high ups of PTCL for taking legal action against Executive Engineer of C&W as well as ABM of PTCL for damaging million of worth cable due to their negligence.
