Quaide Azam model college of Excellence Bang Yarkhun imparting best education in a remote area.
CHITRAL: To impart quality education to students of a very faraway, remote and anon accessible area of Yarkhun valley a retired Principal and educationist opened a private college of Quaide Azam model College of Excellence at Bang village of Yarkhun valley 160 KM from here. Some 136 students are reading in first and second year in this college. Building of the college is situated on the bank of Yarkhun river on some height from river. Our correspondent visited this remote area where there is no proper traffic no facility of transportation in the valley and residents of the valley mostly traveling by feet. Similarly a large number of students also approach this college from very far away localities and came here by feet. In an exclusive interview principal of the college who was retired from education department as Principal RITE Abbotabad and a senior educationist told this scribe that he invested all of his commutation money of his pension on construction of this college with a spirit and aim to educate youths of this backward area where there is no other educational institution nor from government side neither by any private sector.
He said that main objective of this college is to improve literacy ratio and to preserve our centuries old Koh cultural heritage and that is why female students of this college are wearing a embroidery and handcrafted centuries old traditional Chitrali cap on their head and male students using Chitrali Pakol (woolen cap). He said using of Chitrali Chugha (cloak) is also included in our future plan that students of this college will use traditional Chitrali chugha at graduate level after up-gradation of the college. But we still facing numerous financial problems as Science laboratory is still under construction he added. Besides it shortage of professional and science post graduate teachers is an other problem Sher Wali Khan added. He said that there is no M. Sc Physics teacher in the valley and he seeking services of any M.Sc Physics and other science graduate to be deployed them as teachers in the college for teaching of science subjects. I opened this college not only to gain money but only for increasing of literacy ratio and for education purposes Sher Wali Khan explained and that is why I charge a very nominal fee from my students only rupees 600 per month as tuition in Arts classes and 700 from science classes. But this is very pretty money and monthly salary of 8 teaching staff also not fulfilling by this way as well as Orphan and poor students are reading here free of cost without paying any fee. Sher Wali Khan appeal to government and non government organizations as well as philanthropists for providing a Bus for pick and draft of students of this college who coming here from 15 to 60 kilometers like Broghul valley where there is no college.
