Jammu and Kashmir: Referring to unabated media reports
against biased functioning of Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission
(JKPSC), Members of Legislative Council expressed discomfort over the credibility
of their functioning and even over their appoint procedure.
Senior most politician and MLC, National Conference Ajay
Sadhotra expressed strong reservation over the functioning and appointment
order of the members, chairman and vice chairman of the commission. Murtaza
Khan, MLC, PDP also raised strong feelings against PSC and its work culture.
Members also alleged that commission officials and members favor their
relatives and blue eyed.
It is important to mention that JKPSC has been in headlines
for the last few months for its biased work culture. Rejecting all reports
published in media, minister said that commission has decided to approach to
court of law to prove its transparency.
Moreover,Giving details he said that, Public Service
Commission (PSC) has considerably improved over last few years. Minister for
Finance Abdul Rahim Rather said that Commission has made about 6085 record
selections on fast tract basis during last three years as against 3506
selections made during 8 years from year 2000-2001 to 2007-2008.
Replying to a discussion under rule 52 in Legislative
Council on functioning of PSC Rather said that earlier PSC generally used to
make only around 300 selections annually but due to improvements brought in its
functioning, Commission has been making now over 1500 selections annually since
last 3 years.
Rather said that Commission has upgraded its IT
infrastructure and adequately trained its human resource, which has helped to
expedite process of selection adding that selection made by Commission are now
notified with in 24 to 48 hours of process of completion. He said that time lag
in reference of vacancies and completion of selections has also been
considerably minimized. He was replying to queries of MLCs.
